Cherukad Penname Govinda Pisharodi

Cherukad is the penname of Govinda Pisharodi, a well known Malayalam novelist, playwright, poet from Kerala. Govinda Pisharody was born on 1914 at Chemmalasseri, Perinthalmanna. He worked as a lecturer at Pattambi Sanskrit College. Some of the notable works of Cherukad include his autobiography Jeevithappatha, Muthassi, Manushya Hridayangal,Tharavaditham, Devalokam, Bhooprabhu, Maranapathram, Manushyabandhangal, Namal Onnu, Manninte Maril, Sanidasa and Janmabhumi.

Cherukad was also associated with the Communist movement in Kerala. He was one of the founders of Deshabhimani Study Circle, the predecessor of the Purogamana Kala Sahitya Sangham (PuKaSa)
