Cannes Film Festival Founded in 1946

Cannes Film Festival was founded on 20 September 1946. This is an annual film festival held in Cannes, France. In 1946, about 21 countries presented their films at the Cannes International Film Festival. The President of the Festival is elected by the board of directors of the Festival. This Board is composed of authorities of the world of cinema and of public authorities.

The 70th anniversary festival took place between 17 and 28 May 2017.

In 2017, The Palme d'Or was awarded to the Swedish film named The Square, directed by Ruben Ostlund. 

Grand Prix was awarded to 120 Beats per Minute, a French drama film directed by Robin Campillo.
