Hindi Became Official Language of India in 1965

Hindi became the official language of India in the year 1965.  Hindi is the sole working language of the Union Government.

Hindi is the official language of about 9 states in India; Bihar, Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, Chhattisgarh, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, Himachal Pradesh, Jharkhand as well as in Uttarakhand.

Hindi is also the official language in the Union Territories like Dadra & Nagar Haveli, Chandigarh, Andaman & Nicobar Islands, Daman & Diu, National Capital Territory.
