Vaikom Satyagraha held in 1924 - 1925 Kerala

Vaikom Satyagraha was held in the year 1924–25 in Kerala. This movement was conducted to fight against untouchability in the society. Anti-caste feelings were growing higher in the society at that time.

Vaikom Satyagraha was centered at Vaikom Shiva Temple in Kottayam, Kerala, India and was held for the freedom of movement for all sections of society through the public roads that leads to this Mahadevar Temple.

Vaikom Satyagraha started on 1 November 1924 under the leadership of Mannathu Padmanabhan.

The main reformers who gave support to this movement are K. Kelappan, T. K. Madhavan, C.V. Kunjiraman and K.P. Kesavamenon.

Periyar E. V. Ramasami is known as the Vaikom Hero.
