Thekkady Wildlife Sanctuary was formerly known as Nellikkampatty. Thekkady is situated at the Periyar National Park in Idukki district, Kerala, India. This is a major place of tourist attraction. Thekkady is situated very closer to border of Kerala and Tamil Nadu.
Various species of birds, butterflies as well as Nilgiri Langurs, Lion-Tailed Macaques, Elephants, Sambar, Tigers and Nilgiri Langurs can be seen here.
Thekkady is the heaven for natural spices such as cinnamon, ginger, black pepper, cardamom and clove and is also had a rich collection of medicinal plants in the forests.
