Jim Corbett National Park in Uttarakhand is the oldest national park in India. This National Park was established in the year 1936.
Jim Corbett National Park was earlier known as Hailey National Park. In the year 1954–1955 it was renamed as Ramganga National Park and later in 1955–1956 again renamed as Jim Corbett National Park.
The park was renamed as Jim Corbett National Park in the honour of Edward James Corbett who was a British-Indian hunter, naturalist and a well known writer. James Corbett played an important role in creating this reserve.
This National Park is a Project Tiger initiative and helped to protect the endangered Bengal Tiger, the National Animal of India.
