Karnam Malleswari is the first woman recipient of Rajiv Gandhi Khel Ratna Award. In the year 1995, she received the Rajiv Gandhi Khel Ratna Award. She is a retired Indian weightlifter. She was born on 1 June 1975 at Andhra Pradesh in India.
She is also the first Indian woman to win an Olympic medal; bronze medal at the Sydney Olympics in Weightlifting.
In the year 1999, she was honoured with the Padma Shri Award.
