Upper House or Rajya Sabha

The upper house of the Indian Parliament is Rajya Sabha or Council of States. The Rajya Sabha Secretariat functions are carried out under the control and guidance of the Chairman. The state and territorial legislatures indirectly elect most of the members of the House and the membership is limited by the Constitution to a maximum of 250 members.

The Rajya Sabha Chamber features Red Colour carpets and seats. In Rajya Sabha, the seats are arranged in semi-circular and this Chamber is divided into six blocks. The Rajya Sabha meets in continuous sessions.

Money Bills cannot be introduced in Rajya Sabha, it can only be introduced in Lok Sabha.

The numerical strength of Rajya Sabha is half of Lok Sabha.
